Biography
Dr. Andrea Campbell is an education professor serving as Chair of the Department of Education, Director of Teacher Education, Graduate Program Director, and Education Accreditation Coordinator at Concord University. Dr. Campbell has been elected by her peers from other WV institutions of higher education to serve as Chair of the WV Teacher Education Advisory Council. Dr. Campbell is also serving as Principal Investigator on a Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program Track 2 grant awarded by the National Science Foundation. This 2.3-million-dollar project aims to serve the national need of preparing highly-qualified STEM teachers. Recently, Dr. Campbell led all seven CU teacher preparation programs through the rigorous West Virginia Department of Education Content Area Program Approval process where all seven programs were fully recognized the on first submission and received recognition for excellence and best practices.
Dr. Campbell received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech in Family and Childhood Development with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education, master’s degree in Low Incidence Disabilities from East Carolina University while teaching preschool special needs and later became an early intervention provider in Kentucky. After moving back home to WV, she joined faculty at Concord and completed her Doctor of Education from Northcentral University in Exceptional Learners. Dr. Campbell is passionate about preparing future educators to provide the highest quality of services to children and families.
While not on campus, Dr. Campbell enjoys working on projects related to enhancing education and dabbling in crafts. Dr. Campbell also loves spending time with her husband and their four children. Dr. Campbell enjoys watching most sports with her favorite team currently being US Air Force Academy Football.
