  • RDNG570 Reading Practicum (6 Hours)- course requires participation at a week-long summer reading camp at Concord University’s campus. Reading Camp is typically held at the end of June.

Course assignments/experiences will be completed in candidates’ employment classroom/location.

All candidates seeking an endorsement from WV BOE as a Reading Specialist are required to pass PRAXIS II: Reading Specialist subject assessment test.

LETRS Transfer

Concord University Department of Education has developed an alignment of the LETRS curriculum to the Master of Education Reading Specialist program. This analysis of CU course outcomes to LETRS unit content determined that such training is equivalent to completing 12 hours of M.Ed Reading Specialist coursework.

Successful completion of the LETRS training will equate to the following 12 hours of transfer credit:

  • EDUC510 Models of Curriculum and Instruction (3 Hours)
  • EDUC540 Assessment and Evaluation (3 Hours)
  • RDNG525 Literacy Research and Instruction for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students (3 Hours)
  • RDNG550 Reading and Language Arts Instruction in the 21st Century (3 Hours)

Candidates who wish to apply for the M.Ed Reading Specialist and transfer LETRS credit will complete additional degree requirements through Concord University, totaling 24 credit hours.
