  • RDNG560 Action Research in Reading Education* (3 Hours)
  • RDNG570 Reading Practicum (6 Hours)- course requires participation at a week-long summer reading camp at Concord University’s campus. Reading Camp is typically held at the end of June.

Course assignments/experiences will be completed in candidates’ employment classroom/location.

All candidates seeking an endorsement from WV BOE as a Reading Specialist are required to pass PRAXIS II: Reading Specialist subject assessment test.

LETRS Transfer

Concord University is partnering with the West Virginia Department of Education to offer up to 12 hours of graduate credit towards a Reading Specialist master’s degree OR 12 hours of non-degree/professional development credit for completion of the WVDE Science of Reading Training.

Concord University Department of Education has developed an alignment of the LETRS curriculum to the Master of Education Reading Specialist program. This analysis of CU course outcomes to LETRS unit content determined that such training is equivalent to completing 12 hours of M.Ed Reading Specialist coursework.

For DEGREE Credit:

  1. Successfully complete Volume 1 and/or 2 of the training.
  2. Apply for admission to M.Ed. – Reading Specialist program.
  3. Submit certificate of training completion with Masters application.
  4. Receive up to 12 credit hours (6 per volume) towards the Master of Education – Reading Specialist program.

  2. Submit certificates of completion to Concord’s extend learning program manager Mrs. Erin Conner – econner@concord.edu.
  3. Upon submission of your certificate, you will a receive directions for credit enrollment and payment. Costs – $198 for 6 hours of non-degree credit.
