Biography

Dr. Nola Gum, LICSW is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Concord University, where she has taught since 2015. Nola earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Concord University, her Master’s Degree in Social Work at West Virginia University, and her Doctorate Degree in Social Work from Tulane University. Her research interests include evidence-based trauma treatments for adolescents in foster care and the intersection of social work and environmental social justice.

Before coming to Concord, Nola served in various capacities in both child welfare and mental health fields. Nola also currently serves the local community as a therapist practicing in Princeton, WV. She has created unique therapy interventions for publication and has done extensive work with the WV Foster Care system, statewide policy, grant writing, and trauma-informed care.

In her free time, Nola enjoys hiking the Appalachian Trail, camping, scouting, and spending time with family and friends.
