About The Program

CU-ASPIRE has converted the previous Fresh Start summer bridge program for eligible incoming freshman from a 3-week, half day program into a 10-day overnight residential program. This program will give the participating students a head start on their college path and get them acclimated to Concord’s campus before starting their first year.

The eligible CU freshman students who participate in the program will be placed in one of the two tracks – English remediation or math remediation – dependent upon areas of weakness identified by high school grade data and submitted test scores. If a student needs remediation in both areas, the subject with lower scores/ grades will be chosen for placement.

If the students successfully complete the program as determined by the assigned faculty, then they will have the opportunity to be placed in an English or math course without corequisite support in the fall semester.

All participants will earn UNIV 100 credit by attending presentations and workshops developed to clarify collegiate expectations, discuss the transition to college, examine and apply success skills.

The program includes engaging activities in the afternoons/evenings designed to develop participant’s social skills and foster building friendships.
