Master of Public Health
The Master of Public Health Degree at Concord University combines academic skill with practical experience and will prepare you to work in a variety of areas of intervention and disease prevention.
Our program combines core classes with a variety of electives to allow each student to tailor the degree to their own career goals.
Each student will complete an applied practicum providing hands on experience in the public health field.
Students from a variety of backgrounds and career goals can earn a degree in Public Health. Here are just a few examples:
- A healthcare professional who wants to work to address systems that keep people sick
- A student who is passionate about the way the environment can influence disease
- A health educator who wants to help people learn ways to optimize their health
- A student interested in using data to demonstrate the impact of disease
An MPH can qualify you to work in government, non-profit, private, and healthcare systems. Some potential positions are:
- Medical & Health Services Manager
- Health Education Specialist
- Epidemiologist
An MPH combines very well with other graduate degrees and can give you an advantage in the job market. At Concord we designed specific dual degree paths to let you earn two graduate degrees in a shorter period of time, counting credits from other degrees as electives for the MPH. Students earning their PA and MBA are all great candidates for a dual degree with MPH. Contact Dr. Jill Nolan for more information.
There are two options for admissions into the MPH program. Students who have completed or will complete their four-year degree in any discipline need to submit:
- Official Transcripts
- A completed application
- A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 OR a minimum graduate GPA of 3.5
Requirements for students in the Fast-track admissions pathway include:
- 90 hours or higher completed prior to matriculation (can be in any discipline)
- A completed application
- A minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Letter of support from undergraduate advisor or Department Chair indicating they understand the student will transfer 30 graduate hours from the MPH to complete their undergraduate degree.
Students accepted into the accelerated pathway can earn a Bachelor’s degree in their discipline after the first year of the MPH Program and a Master’s degree upon completion of the MPH program. With a minimum of 90 credit hours of undergraduate coursework and up to 30 credit hours in the MPH program, students will have earned 120 credit hours. The awarding of any degree will depend on the acceptance of transfer credits by the student’s undergraduate institution and specific degree requirements.
Is your GPA below a 3.0? Consider applying to the Master of Arts in Health Promotion. If you enter that program and have a 3.5 at the end of your first semester, you can transition into the MPH.
