Program Information
Concord’s Computer Science major is an undergraduate on-campus program designed to be completed in four years. There is also a 3-year option through CU Rise. Courses are primarily offered in-person, although a few courses are offered online. Students complete a year-long Capstone sequence in their final year to design a team project.
Core classes prepare students for a wide variety of careers and graduate schools. Students choose one of three concentrations in which to specialize:
- Software Development
- Cybersecurity
- Analysis, Simulation & Modeling
Concord’s curriculum is designed to give students a thorough understanding of computers; the physics of the hardware, the underlying mathematical principles; and the creation of software solutions. The curriculum’s design is guided by recommendations from the Association of Computing Machinery and the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers. We were recently rated the third best Computer Science major in West Virginia.
