Program Information

All education programs have early clinical experiences that are completed throughout the program. This allows students hands-on real-world practice and experience that immediately connects to content being taught in education courses. All education programs also require a yearlong residency which provides teacher candidates the opportunity to spend most of their last year in practice within the public-school classroom. This experience allows candidates to get the most critical year of their professional experience completed while surrounded by support of education faculty and experienced public-school teachers.

After graduation, students earn a West Virginia teaching license and are qualified to teach at any grade level in a variety of settings, including choir, band, and elementary music. Concord music students consistently perform well on the Praxis Music Content and Knowledge licensure exam.

Concord University was founded upon teacher education. We pride ourselves on our state of the art teacher preparation and training. Graduates and employers of our graduates continue to rank our program very high for the level of preparation our candidates have when they are employed in their own classrooms.
