Spring 2016 Commencement Ceremonies

2:00 P.M. Ceremony will include graduates from:

Masters of Social Work

Masters of Health Promotion

Division of Humanities

Division of Science, Mathematics, & Health

Division of Social Sciences

Bachelor of Arts/Science in Interdisciplinary Studies

Regents Bachelor of Arts

*Graduates are asked to report to Gym II no later than 1:00 p.m.



No tickets are required for guests to attend the ceremony. It is customary for graduates to invite as many guests as they wish to share this momentous occasion with them. All are welcome. Seating in the Carter Center is mostly in the bleachers. Floor seating is available for individuals for whom bleacher seating would be difficult. Due to Fire Marshall regulation space for strollers is limited. Special seating is also available for guests with physical limitations or who require ADA accommodations. Please note that this area has limited seating and reservations are encouraged. If you would like for your family to sit with you in this area, please specify that on the form or when you contact Ms. Ellison. Although we make every effort to seat families together, we may have to ask individuals who do not require special seating arrangements to sit in the bleachers if we have guests arrive who need accommodated seating.



Uniformed officers will be available to direct parking. Also, ambassadors will be available with a limited number of transport wheel chairs for those needing assistance to their seats. Greeters will be stationed at all entrances to Carter Center to answer questions and direct you to seating. While we strongly encourage our guests to make prior arrangements for assistance, please see an officer, ambassador or greeter for any type of assistance you may need.



Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. However, uniformed police officers will be available to direct parking. Handicapped parking spaces are available in several campus parking lots.



The commencement exercise will last approximately 1 ½ hours



There is no air conditioning in the Carter Center. However, the gymnasium does have a system of fans. For comfort, dressing in light, breathable fabrics in thin layers is advised.



Professional photographers will be taking pictures of the ceremony and individual photographs of each candidate for graduation. Color proofs are mailed to the candidates in the event they want to purchase photos. For more information, please contact Commencement Photos Inc. at or 1-978-851-8992. We understand that this day is a special one for families, but we ask that if you do approach the stage for photos of your loved ones, that you remain mindful not to block the walkways and crowd the areas where the professional photographers will be taking photos. In addition, there will be opportunities for individuals to take pictures following each ceremony.



The Concord University Cheerleaders will be in the lobby of the Carter Center selling bottled water and roses. All proceeds go to benefit the CU Cheerleading Team. Cash Only Please



The Concord University Alumni Association will be selling “The Campus Beautiful” by well-known artist P. Buckley Moss. The print, produced especially for Concord University, measures 11”x13” and sells for $100.



For individuals who are not able to attend the ceremony in person, the University’s Academic Technology Department will provide live streaming of the ceremony on the Internet. Log on to Concord’s web site, the day of the event, then click on the graphic on the main page.

DVD’s will be made and may be ordered the day of the event at a cost of $20.00. Cash, Check, Visa and MasterCard are accepted. DVD’s will be mailed at a later date.

The University Bookstore, located on the bottom floor of the Jerry & Jean Beasley Student Center, will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This is your chance to buy your graduate his/her first Concord Alumni souvenir!
