NO TICKETS NECESSARY FOR CEREMONY
It is customary for graduates to invite guests to share this momentous occasion with them. Concord University holds two ceremonies to accommodate families and friends and does not require tickets for the Commencement ceremonies. All are welcome!
The commencement exercise will last approximately 1 ½ hours.
A reception follows the ceremonies for graduates and guests, and Concord faculty and staff. The reception is located on the lawn outside Carter Center. In the event of rain, the reception will be held in Gym II of Carter Center. Punch and cookies will be served and no tickets are required.
Most seating in the gymnasium is in bleachers. Floor seating is available for individuals for whom bleacher seating would be difficult. Special seating is available for guests with physical limitations. Please contact Ms. Nancy Ellison, Director of Disability Services at 1-304-384-6086 to request accommodations or click here to complete the on-line request form.
There is no air conditioning in Carter Center. However, the gymnasium does have a system of fans. For comfort, dressing in light, breathable fabrics in thin layers is advised.
Uniformed officers will be available to assist with parking. Also, ambassadors will be available with wheel chairs for those needing assistance. Greeters will be stationed at all entrances to Carter Center to answer questions and direct you to seating. While we strongly encourage our guests to make prior arrangements for assistance, please see an officer, ambassador or greeter for any type of assistance you may need.
Professional photographers will be taking pictures of the ceremonies and an individual photograph of each candidate for graduation. The company will send email proofs of individual pictures to the candidates in the event they want to purchase photos. In addition, there will be opportunities for individuals to take pictures following each ceremony.
For individuals who are not able to attend the ceremonies in person, the University’s Academic Technology Department will provide live streaming of each ceremony on the Internet. Log on to Concord’s web site, www.concord.edu, the day of the event, then click on the graphic on the main page. DVD’s will be made and may be ordered the day of the event at a cost of $20.00. DVD’s will be mailed at a later date.
The University Bookstore, located on the bottom floor of the Jerry & Jean Beasley Student Center, will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. This is your chance to buy your graduate his/her first Concord Alumni souvenir!
