Ms. Amy Pitzer
Biography
Amy began working at Concord University in October 1987 in the Public Relations Office.
Throughout her career, she has served on numerous university committees and has chaired and participated in a variety of search committees, including two presidential searches. She has also served as a legislative liaison to the university president.
Amy has represented classified employees at both the institutional and state levels. She served as the classified employee representative to the West Virginia State College System Board of Directors and the Concord University Board of Governors. Since 1990, she has represented classified employees on the Advisory Council of Classified Employees (ACCE), where she has held an officer position every year of her service. In addition, she has served on numerous state-level personnel and human resources committees.
Amy served as advisor to the Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society for more than 15 years and was subsequently named an honorary member in recognition of her service. She continued to serve as co-advisor for an additional three years.
She has also served as an employee advocate in select grievance proceedings at several higher education institutions. In this role, she regularly presents briefings to the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, the Council for Community and Technical College Education, and the Legislative Oversight Commission on Education Accountability on matters affecting classified employees within West Virginia’s public higher education system. Amy is currently serving on the Concord University Board of Governors and has served in this role on and off for more than twenty years.
Amy served at Concord University in the Advancement Office for more than 38 years before transferring to the Human Resources Office where she now serves as Director of Special Projects doing Classification and Compensation, creates Board of Governors’ policies, employee relations, conflict resolution, employee training and development and special assignments.
