Women's & Gender Studies (Minor)

Two students working together on an assignment in the library

Program Type: Minor

Program Information

The goal of Women’s and Gender Studies is to examine the ways that gender (and sexuality, and race, and social class, etc.) shape our lives, our social interactions, and our social institutions. In the interdisciplinary study of Women’s and Gender Studies, students will become familiar with social constructions of masculinity and femininity while building strong oral and written communication skills. In addition, this minor prepares students to critically analyze social relationships, cultural production, and historical events and processes.  A focus on understanding and empowerment can lead to positive personal and social change.

This minor consists of 15 total credit hours and can be pursued by students of any major at Concord University.
